I first collected buttons while in NYC following a day of galleries because they are universal and utilitarian works of art. A great break from thinking about my painting.

THEN I began sewing these buttons together to make button collages now labeled IT"S A JANE button bracelets... Then on vacation at a farmer's market I had an idea to create THE BUTTONS. Today they meet at reunions in the summer and are a large and very congenial and mixed group made up of all sorts of vegtables..the corns, the tomatos, the eggplants, the peppers and so the family grows!
