The celestial mechanics necessary for the alignment of the sun moon and earth is a captivating scientific marvel the Babylonians figured out 2000 years ago and we got to experience in August of 2017.   Just focusing on the phenomenon of the sun and earth appearing to be similar in size and in such close proximity began the splashy expressionistic piece about the solar ECLIPSE. At the core is the memory of looking through the protective glasses as the  eclipse is happening, the anticipation, the silent crowd, the still air, and the awe as the sunlight is obscured into shadow.   Inspired by the August 2017 total solar eclipse that was seen across all of the USA. It was a big planned  gathering on top of a hotel parking lot. Together we wore all sorts of cool sunglasses and experienced the weird changes in light and temperature. The bright sunshine, willowy shadows, the light and the utter darkness were extraordinary this August mid afternoon..
