1926 Jean Cocteau

The scientific equations and history of how we are deciphering the secrets of the universe are an infinite source of motivation and have led to my series of galactic paintings spanning over the past two decades. I am awe struck equally by the ancient knowledge and recent discoveries. My expressionistic paintings are fueled by meteor showers, Copernicus, Galileo, Einstein, images from NASA , the Hubble Space telescope, and more recently the website EarthSky. There are thousands of asteroids made from all sorts of rocky materials that circle the sun but are heavily concentrated in a very wide belt between the orbits of Mars with 2 moons and Jupiter with 63 moons. These mammoth rocks swirling with extreme temperatures and speed have inspired a provocative theme about the mysteries of outer space known and unknown.
